Department of Orthopaedics

The department of orthopaedics at Kurnool Medical College, Kurnool is recognized across the country and is known for its dedicated orthopaedic surgeons and excellent patient care. The department was started by Dr. B.P. NARASIMHULU in 1961 with a mandate to create knowledge, advanced learning to solve both simple and difficult orthopaedic problems.

Post graduate teaching program was started in the year 1977, affiliated to S.V. UNIVERSITY. Intake was 2 candidates per year and the numbers of post graduate seats have increased from 2 seats to 8 seats in the year 2014 and are recognized by the MCI in the year 2018. The numbers of post graduate seats have increased from 8 to 11 in the year 2017. Round the clock emergency trauma services were started in the year 1979 with intent to provide proper immediate care to the injured. There is a separate TRAUMA CARE UNIT sanctioned by the central government with a budget of 1.5 crores and is catering to the needs of the patients with state of the art equipment.

There are currently 4 UNITS in the department consisting of 3 Professors- Dr.G.Raghunandan, Dr.K.Srinivas, Dr.K.Venkateswarlu, 1 Associate Professor-Dr.D.Rajaiah, 6 Assistant Professors-Dr.A.M.Ilias Basha,Dr.K.B.Vijaya Mohan Reddy, Dr.T.Shyamdhar, Dr.M.Nagaraju, Dr.M.Rajesh Kumar,Dr.A.Pavan Kumar Babu, 5 senior residents and a total of 27 post graduates currently.

The operation theatre complex is equipped with the latest state of the art equipment providing facilities which enable performance of advanced surgical procedures.
