Department of Radiotherapy

The Department of Radiotherapy and Oncology block was inaugurated in 1985 . The department has the following posts Professor -One, Assistant Professor-3, One Medical Physicist and Two Radiotherapy technologists. Department is catering the needs of the cancer patients of Andhrapradesh and Telangana states. We are having 30 beds with most of the times with 100 to 150 % occupancy. We are dealing with both Radiation oncology and Medical Oncology(Solid Tumors). We are administering 10-15 chemotherapies per day and treating 20-25 patients with External Beam Radiotherapy. Recently, central government awarded the State Cancer Institute (SCI ) status to Kurnool Medical College and Government General Hospital, Kurnool. As a part of SCI, we are going to upgrade the department with 120 bedded state of art world class cancer facilities, which is going to be a premier cancer institute in the AP. It will be a Regional Cancer Center(RCC). After developing infrastructure, planning for post graduate training facilities in Radiation Oncology and super speciality courses in Medical Oncology and Surgical Oncology in Government Medical Colleges and advanced cancer research.
